Simple Tips for Organizing the Laundry Room

Laundry rooms are unfortunately notorious for the way they are cluttered up, and precious space is lost because of this. In order to have freedom of movement and order, there are some tricks that you can turn to, and if you read this article you will find some useful and simple tips for organizing the always messy laundry room.

Laundry rooms tend to get cluttered with many clothes, and due to the fact that they are usually small in size, you lose a lot of space because of this. Read the following lines if you want to find out some simple tips for organizing the laundry room, and give this once messy room a clean and improved appearance.

Choose the laundry appliances based on the size of the laundry room

If you have a very small laundry room, there’s no need to stack it with bulky appliances when there are so many compact appliances on the market. Dryers are particularly challenging as they are bulky by nature. Nevertheless, we found a comparison made by Horace Rudd of the best dryers of the moment, most of which have compact designs and rather small dimensions. Take a look at that list and we are certain that you will find a small, yet efficient dryer. With compact appliances, your laundry room will seem bigger and it will be easier to keep it organized.

Use drying bars and shelves

Drying bars and shelves are ideal to have in a laundry room due to the fact that they can be used as additional storage places. Instead of putting your clothes in a basket on top of the dryer after they have been dried off, and stacking them there, put up some shelves on which you can neatly fold the clothes after you get them out of the dryer.

When it comes to drying bars, you can either use them to air-dry certain clothes that shrink if you let them in the dryer for the entire program, like cotton button-down shirts for example, or you can use them as a place to store any clothing that needs to sit on a hanger after it has been dried off to not get wrinkles by folding it.

Conceal the supplies in cabinets

In a laundry room you will usually find all the supplies in plain view, mostly placed on the washer or on the dryer for convenience. Instead of cluttering the room and giving it an awful and messy look, it’s better to install fronted cabinets, preferably above the washer and the dryer, and to deposit all the cleaning supplies there. By doing this you will not only have more space, the room looking bigger than it is because it has been freed of all the mess, but you will be more organized, and you won’t have to look all over the room for a cleaning product that you need, because you will know that you can find it in the cabinets.

Decorate the room to make it pretty

Decorating any room gives it a more pleasant look, and the laundry room makes no exception. The only difference is that you have to make sure to not overdo it with the decorations, because you need the space to be as freed up as possible.

The most tasteful way to decorate the laundry room is by adding your favorite plants wherever you can find the space, preferably by a window for them to receive the much needed light, to put a cute clock on the wall, and you could even hang some neat small paintings and pictures of your family on the walls.

Another thing that you can do to make the room look better is to conceal the washer and the dryer with beautifully colored curtains by adding a spring rod below the counter and hanging the curtain there. This way, when you enter the room, it won’t even look like a laundry room, but rather as an additional room for relaxation.
