5 ways to make sure your dog lives a long, healthy, happy life
We all wish our furry friends to be around for as long as possible. And, luckily there are a few ways we can help them live a long, happy, and healthy life.
Our pets bring us joy and unconditional love. In return, we must give them love, proper care, and the best we can do to keep them healthy and happy.
Now, we can’t promise that your furry friend will become a World Record holder, but these five tips will definitely ensure they have a long, happy, and healthy life:

1. Pay attention to what they eat
Encouraging a healthy diet for your do is the number one rule to keep them healthy for as much as possible.
Studies suggest that dogs who eat fewer calories usually live longer, with an average of two years longer than dogs who are fed more calories.
But, besides the quantity of the food you give to your dog, the quality of the food also matters a lot. Specialists recommend avoiding generic “meat byproducts”, sugars, excess sodium, and unnecessary fillers. Instead, it would be best if you looked for whole ingredients.
2. Take them to regular vet visits
No other person can tell you better if your dog is healthy and in great shape than their vet.
Besides taking your dog to regular vet visits for a general check-up and injections, taking them there will also help you know whether or not you should change something in your care routine. For example, maybe the vet will recommend a specific type of food that works better for your pet. Or, they can tell you if your dog is exercising enough.
3. Keep them active
Just like it is for us, humans, exercising plays a major role in keeping your dog healthy for longer.
Exercise is proven to help lower stress, increase endorphins, and help your furry friend maintain a healthy weight and muscle mass. Moreover, it also helps your dog keep their cardiovascular system in shape.
You can prolong your regular walks and maybe even take your dog to a jog. Swimming in a rehabilitering dyr clinic is another great exercise for dogs.
In fact, taking your dog to a dyreklinikk can help them socialize and play with other dogs there. Allowing your dog to play with other dogs in the dyreklinikk nittedal will also help reduce stress and improve their overall quality of life.
4. Brush their teeth regularly
Just like humans, dogs can suffer from various health conditions, such as heart disease or organ damage, due to poor dental hygiene. Unfortunately, dental hygiene is an often overlooked aspect of pet care. But, it is essential that you brush your dog’s teeth regularly to help them avoid plaque, gingivitis, or bacterial infection of the mouth.
5. Give them love and attention
Have you ever heard of anxious dogs? Yes, that’s right, even your furry friend can suffer from anxiety if they feel neglected and unloved. And, just like it is for humans, anxiety in dogs can cause various other more serious health problems.
So, make sure you spend time with your dog daily, walking them and playing with them. Your attention and love will keep your dog’s heart and mind healthy for a very long time.
